Liam Flynn massage & Myotherapist

As an experienced practitioner, Liam employs a range of techniques and modalities to ensure the best results for his clients. During a treatment session, he may select from the following treatment options, among others.

Treatments & Modalities

Deep Tissue / Sports Massage

Deep Tissue / Sports Massage

Deep tissue massage is a specialized technique used to treat musculoskeletal issues, such as strains and sports injuries. It involves slow, deliberate strokes and firm pressure to penetrate deep muscle layers and connective tissue. This approach helps break down scar tissue from injuries and reduce tension in muscles and tissues. Additionally, it promotes faster healing by increasing blood circulation and reducing inflammation, making it beneficial for relieving muscle discomfort and stiffness.

Myofascial Release Technique

Myofascial Release Technique

Myofascial release is a technique that targets the fascia, the connective tissue surrounding muscles. It aims to alleviate tension in the fascia by breaking up any knots or adhesions, thereby enhancing flexibility, diminishing pain, and boosting circulation.

Myofascial Dry Needling

Myofascial Dry Needling

Dry needling is an effective therapy for musculoskeletal pain and movement restrictions. It works by reducing muscle tightness, enhancing blood flow, and alleviating both local and referred pain. Inserting a needle into a trigger point can help restore normal blood circulation, and ease muscle tension. Additionally, the sensation caused by the needle can activate nerve fibers, prompting the brain to release endorphins, which are natural pain-relievers produced by the body.

Myofascial Cupping

Myofascial Cupping

Myofascial cupping is a treatment for musculoskeletal disorders that utilizes suction to generate negative pressure. This negative pressure decompresses the targeted area by elevating the skin and the fascia, a layer of tissue beneath the skin, creating space for the underlying tense muscle to relax!! Additionally, cupping stimulates blood flow to the area, bringing in fresh, oxygenated, nutrient-rich blood.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger points typically arise from muscle overuse, trauma, inflammation, infection, or nerve pain. These points can weaken muscles, limiting their normal function and range of motion. Trigger point therapy seeks to alleviate pain from these Adhesions (knots) through targeted pressure, manipulation, stretching, and release. It's crucial to recognize that the treated areas may not align with where the client perceives pain.

Joint Mobilisation

Joint Mobilisation

Joint mobilisation involves applying specific oscillations to a painful, stiff, or compromised joint to enhance its function. Although not suitable for every condition, joint mobilisations can increase range of motion, alleviate pain, and reduce stiffness. These mobilisations are often used alongside other treatments, such as strengthening and stretching exercises, to maximize the overall therapeutic outcome.
